The client has developed an HR application aimed at the Oil
& Gas market - providing training and competence profiles for employees and
contractors; management of offshore personnel logistics and other HR related
functions. The product has provision to be customized for different clients
having a business span in the whole Europe. As per the end client’s business
process, the product undergoes series of changes reflecting the individual
business needs. In the today’s world, the business processes changes frequently
and hence change is required in each variant over the period of time.
The key criteria for selecting an external vendor were as follows:

Client wanted the product to be more flexible in order to
take care of future changes without any changes in the code of the product

The existing functionality of the product was to be
maintained, allowing the flexibility for users to change user interface only
·
The solution provided was not to impact the performance of
the existing system but flexible enough to include run time changes required by
the user
The product has five modules. SCMC was involved in the
enhancements for the variants. Given the time constraints and complexity
involved in each module, SCMC incorporated new changes / enhancements in the
product as specified by the end client and ensured the current functionality
was retained.
SCMC came up with a tool – Feature Matrix- that helped the
client to make runtime changes to the user interfaces. The Feature Matrix saves
time and efforts to make changes in code each time whenever there are any
changes in functionality or business flow. The Feature Matrix made the product
more stable and more flexible.
